Mt. Vernon Township provides mowing services to seniors and disabled persons who meet certain guidelines. Seniors (65 years of age or older) and persons with disabilities must be a resident of the township and meet 125% of the poverty level. Those with disabilities may be of any age, but also must meet certain disability classifications. Applicant must be a township resident and must own home. Rental property and vacant lots are not eligible. Mowing takes place on an every other week basis beginning in mid-April and running until mid-October.
Mt. Vernon Township also provides mowing services for Old Union Cemetery, Sursa Cemetery, Atkinson Cemetery, and Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
All mowing services are done at no cost to residents and cemetery associations.
