EA is available for those individuals determined eligible who have demonstrated a verifiable need for a certain category of emergency aid. Applicant must be a township resident and meet the guidelines set forth by Mt. Vernon Township. The categories for Emergency Assistance are as follows: Dental Assistance, Physician Services, and Prescriptions Assistance.
EA is paid directly to the vendor only, and never to the recipient. In no event is cash ever provided. EA will be granted until such funds are exhausted. The township cannot give emergency assistance to any one person more than once during any consecutive 12 month period. The current level of EA provided by the township is $150 per year. Applicant must be a township resident.
